If you buy it directly from Apple, it should work, yes. Do NOT buy it from any other US retailer. The phones sold elsewhere (Best Buy, Walmart, target, etc) can only be activated on a US carrier and will lock to the first carrier used.
The warranty will only be valid in the US.
