I have an iPhone X and my mailbox is FULL and yes I went to verizon and deleted my messages STILL FULL
ANYONE ???? if it's not verizon , then WTF?????
Seems to me its an Apple problem ????

Did you restart the phone after deletions? You might try a Forced Restart which can fix a multitude of issues...
