Bluetooth LDAC music using iPhone

I want to use LDAC to Bluetooth music from my

iPhone X to Sony WF-1000XM4. I gather LDAC provides the highest quality sound

using Bluetooth. I note that LDAC has not historically been supported by Apple,

but I gather this might have changed. Can you please provide clarification. I

have read that switching to LDAC is possible on iPhones (perhaps only iPhone

12) via the developer app but one needs a Mac to do this or can I do this with

an ipad pro. Can you please provide clarification.

Is there a codec Apple does support which provides sound quality via bluetooth which is equivalent quality to LDAC?

I disagree - an important aspect of digit sound quality is the sampling rate. Much below CD quality sampling rate and the drop in sound quality is audible to most anyone. If I recall correctly MP3 has about 1/8 of the data of a CD. Even if a Codec samples at 2 times this rate it still is 1/4 the sample rate of a CD, which is by no means the highest sample rate out these

True, but the encoding is also important.

For example, given the same sampling rate, a 128 Mbps MP3 stream sounds significantly worse than a 128 Mbps AAC stream.

At 512 Mbps the differences become much more difficult to detect.

So yes, LDAC probably does sound better than Apple's AAC codec, but to what degree can only be determined by each individual listener.
