ypu Need to go into the Sony menu - not Apple TV+ - and delete the data. The Sony TV was sending my old Apple TV+ account credentials in and I couldn’t even get to a new login page. Once I cleared the data in the Sony TV settings it all worked fine
Almost after 1,5 months after purchase - the Apple stuff just started to work without any tricks, Apple TV, Airplay and HomeKit. I had set the privacy correctly the day 2 after purchase and had done factory reset several times during December with no luck. After new years, Apple stuff still refused to work. Now yesterday, opened the TV - launched Apple TV and everything worked as it should.
I have an open support case with both Apple and Sony started few weeks ago - Apple even reached back to have me test and record the failure after Christmas - no word since. Sony only took the info I provided but never came back. Not sure whether any of them had done something or what resolved this.
Yeah, that’s the model of tv I have. I done a live chat with Sony and they said the issue is currently being investigated by their technical dept.

After spending many hours yesterday on the phone with Apple and Sony - nothing worked. Today the app just allowed us to log-in with no issues. Must have been a system issue.
I just bought a Bravia and had the verification error. Someone here mentioned playing a video from your phone (logged into the same Apple ID that you use for Apple TV) and screen mirror to the Sony from Control Panel. After I did that, the mobile verification went fine. Screwy error.
The apple support guy told me to call Sony for help on the Apple TV app. Ya, that will work
I am having the same problem and babe tried all the recommendations…I keep getting the verification failed message. I also tried screen mirroring & the onscreen code doesn’t work. I then tried using the tv password that doesn’t work either. I’ve tried resetting the app, doing a force stop, unplugging the tv, disconnecting the wifi, nothing is working!! I’ve used the app on this to before with no problem
I have never gotten airplay to work on either of my Sony OLEDs, I get same on screen code entry and when I enter the right #s the screen just stays on the code entry and it goes on ad infinitum

I am having the same issue and I have tried all the mentioned solutions on this forum, yet my apple tv app , apple airplay and homekit are not getting configured or signed in. I spoke to Sony and they asked me to clear apple tv app data, update the tv software and agree to all in the privacy policy and yet nothing worked. I called up apple and spoke to CCR and we went through all the mentioned steps in the forum and yet it the issue persists. Now the representative has asked me time so that this issue can be discussed with his team and a solution can be reached to.
If anyone else has done something differently and has managed to overcome this irritating issue, please help me out. Thank you.

Did you found any solution for this? I have the exact same problem, none of the Apple stuff works with A80J (airplay, homekit and apple tv app). Yesterday did a factory settings reset and allowed all data gathering and allowed all the privacy setting options, but no luck with Apple. Everything else works just fine, all the other apps and Google Cast etc.

No luck yet. I have been on several calls with the apple advisors with no solution. I was supposed to receive a call back yesterday but did not. I would be calling them again today. Will provide an update if any.
I tried each of the steps outlined here with no success. I also did all of them after a full factory reset. I even tried only installing Apple TV (none of the other apps I use) by itself to see if there was an app conflict. I tried removing updates and installing Apple TV 2.2, same error. I think the clue is in the Airplay errors, none of the 4 digit codes match. Something is scrambling verification handshakes. Two hours with Sony, they blame Apple. After an hour with Apple, they simple say "Sony Bravia XR55A90J" is not on our compatible TV list. Really frustrating.
Same with me...I am using a A80J and after updating Apple TV app (looks like there was a recent update on 1/25/2022) Tried everything here and in whatever threads I could find related to this issue. I am now just getting a loading circle when i click to Sign in. beyond frustrating
This 100% fixed the problem after I tried every other possible fix.
Restart, clear cache and data, checked time and date. used verification code from macbook, disabled app, reeabled app. oh my gosh so much more I can't remember. Called Apple, on with them for two hours, couldn't figure it out. No QR code or code was coming up on TV and login error occurred. Once I did the steps below, the QR code came up and I was able to login using Face ID on my phone!
