Hi everyone, I've got an iPhone 6 plus with software version 12.5.4, I wonder if is still safe to use it and if is still safe to navigate online without the risk of getting hacked or being infected by malware.

You are not running (and cannot run) the latest iOS version with an iPhone 6 Plus, but with 12.5.4 you have received relatively recent security updates:
All genuine Apple updates are safe and you should update your devices as soon as possible. Unless your phone is jailbroken, you can not get a virus.
Only download iOS updates from Apple otherwise you are most definitely asking for unsafe conditions.
Nobody but Apple knows if they will continue to issue updates for iOS 12. Note that very likely later this year Apple would tend to release its next major iOS version (iOS 15). According to past behavior all updates for the oldest iOS for which they currently offer security updates (i.e., iOS 12) would likely be discontinued completely.
Hi Limnos, what do you suggest I do?
Should I try to download recent software versions from other websites instead of Apple (therefore having no guarantees of success) or should I wait for future update releases?
Another question: will Apple release updates for iOS 12, for example, 12.6 or 12.7?
