Why are my mail folders in my Home folder?

I discovered yesterday that all my mail folders (Facebook, Ancestry, etc.) are in my Home folder (the icon with a house). How did I do that? How can I fix it? I want to be sure that all the mail folders in Mail have all the mail it had originally. Thank you so much for any help with this mess, Judy

PS-I am running 11.4 on my M1 MBP.

What type of mail account is this?

Are these mailboxes under the account in Mail, or under "On My Mac"?

Try creating a new mailbox, say "Test". Does a new folder with that name appear in your home folder?

I am just trying to get more data points to try and figure this out. I have never seen anything like it.

Just in case there is something else, either hardware or software, involved: Please run Etrecheck and post its full report here. Use the "additional text" button and paste the report into the text box.

Luis-I think I know what is going on... I suspect that it is the app I use to archive my emails. I don't know if I have something set wrong or what is going on but I contacted the developer and she is pretty responsive so I hope she can straighten me out! I don't know for sure that the app is the issue but maybe.

I will report back when I hear from her. Thank you so much for replying and trying to help me. Judy
