I have just navigated to my manage storage section of my mac and went to my Messages and deleted large attachments. Every time I hit delete, the space I freed up went to "other", an archive were everything deleted is stored, so I am also asking the same thing because I want to know how do i delete whats in the archive things I thought were being deleted actually aren't.

a similar theme; best to backup & have some duplicates to restore from.
