Difference between abridged and unabridged audiobook in iOS Books app

Hi,

some may have asked this before but no one has answered what the difference between the unabridged (normally the fully uncut version of a text) is vs the abridged version, since they are the same in file size and playback length! There is a significant price difference and I would like clarity on what more I get in an unabridged version. See Simon Sineks “the infinite game”… the unabridged version is nearly twice as expensive, yes it has the same 6:56 hours and 208.4 MB file size as the cheaper version? Does anyone have an answer? Thanks Dan

By definition the unabridged is simply a narrator reading the novel word for word as written.

An abridge novel may have more of a script approach and separate characterisation; as it were, be more of a play or theatre.

Sections of the novel used to describe scenery place and time may have been completely discarded; even timelines of the novel could have been moved to add clarity, definition or other effect.

Abridged should not necessarily be accorded with condensed length by the listener.

From a point of audibility, narrative and understanding the two should be considered more differing experiences.
