hi, just bought an iphone 12 and was very pleased to see that all my data and apps. pics, etc. was automatically transfered from my old 8 to my new 12. Question; if i bought a new ipad would all my existing ipad apps, data, pics, etc. be automatically trandeferred from my existing ipad to a newly purchased / upgraded ipad. regards graham

“Transfer” is rather a misnomer. In reality, your data and setup is merely cloned to the new device. Nothing is moved or removed from the original device.
An alternative is to restore either an iCloud or iTunes backup to the new device:

Now, you need to understand that Apps the themselves are not directly transferred between devices. Instead, Apps are automatically re-downloaded from the App Store to the destination device - but only those Apps that are still available for download.
