“Contacts” problems after service at Apple Store
Have you ever had contacts disappear after service at an Apple Store?
Planning to go back for follow up, but thought these would have been saved to iCloud...

they could be hidden or could have been erased in error you would just need to make sure your contacts were selected to be backed up to iCloud. I posted a couple of links that might help. I hope this helps!
