MacBook Pro 2008 not working

I have MacBook Pro 2008. Couple of days ago I shut it down. When restarted, it shows Apple logo and prohibition sign. I updated it to Catalina and after then it’s taking forever to start. After entering my password it takes time and then back to boot up. Help please

Hmm… irum208, maybe I can help you , a bit. Are you quite sure you have a MacBook Pro 2008? Could it be a 2018 MacBook Pro? You can find out by going to the 🍎icon , top left of your screen and going to ‘about this Mac’. If you do have a 2018 model, it probably has the T2 chip on it. You could try doing a reset smc/pmu followed by a few pram zaps on startup( about 3-4) , failing that, go for mac os Recovery. Here’s how to do the 1st bit:https://www.macworld.com/article/224955/how-to-reset-a-macs-nvram-pram-and-smc.html

and here’s how to do the 2nd: either this for Internet Recovery…

and here’s what that Apple logo plus 🚫 means

Try Booting into Safe Mode:

See what happens when you boot in to Safe Mode. You [Hold Down the shift key upon boot], and see if you still get this error. In Safe Mode, login items do not open at login, certain preferences are set aside, and damages system files are intentionally fixed. So, see if you can boot into Safe Mode, and get it just fine. Then, restart the Mac normally. Report back how it works.
