Record and Monitor Icon Not Displaying in IPAD Garageband

Hi all, I’ve seen variations of this question asked and answered for Mac GarageBand but haven’t had any luck replicating the solutions with my iPAD. I’m looking to record guitar and vocals at the same time, and even though I’ve got input 1 and input 2 plugged in I don’t see the record or monitor icon in my iPAD as I would expect to see it. I’m sure I’m missing something very obvious, any insights? Here is what I am seeing:
