wake up mac book air with external keyboard

I have 2020 M1 mac book air. I use a plugable usb-c dock to connect to an external display and a logitech wireless keyboard+mouse combo. I primarily just use the external monitor (it is 32" compared to the 13" air) and close the clam shell. Every time the mac goes to sleep, I have to physically open the mac and use its keyboard and trackpad. The usb keyboard and mouse don't seem to work unless I disconnect the dock from the thunderbolt port and reconnect it. Is there a work around for this where I can get the external keyboard and mouse to work without removing and reconnecting the dock?

Hi, I have a Logitech MK270 keyboard mouse combo, which I use for my windows machine. The S/N for the keyboard is - 2013SY02QMM8. The S/N for the mouse - 2012L20CRHE8. I also noticed that this issue primarily occurs when I use karabiner elements for keyboard customization. When that app is turned off, the keyboard and mouse are working when I wake up my mac from sleep, however, I have to open the clamshell to wake up the mac from sleep and am not able to use my keyboard/mouse to wake it up.
