Apps refusing to let me use unless I allow tracking

This article says that we should still be able to use the apps without allowing them to track. But I've come across several that will not allow me to use it unless I let them track me. Several have stated that I cannot use the app unless I allow them to track. Can they refuse my usage of the app?

Hey there MizzCarolyn,

Thanks for the details. In these cases, you may want to tap “Continue” or “Next” in this instance and see what the next option is. If there isn’t another option, go to Settings > Privacy > Tracking and look for the app in question. See if the app has tracking enabled or disabled there and if it’s enabled, try disabling it. This may resolve the issue for you.

Kind regards.

Hey there MizzCarolyn,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. We understand you’re having issues apps as expected if they don’t track your activity. We’ll be happy to help.

As stated in the article you came from, you should still be able to use the full capabilities of the app. To verify, what apps is this happening with? What is the exact message you’re seeing when you attempt to use the app? Have you tried removing and reinstalling the app to see if this helps?

Get back to us with that info and we’ll go from there.

Take care.

Hey MizzCarolyn,

Can you tell us exactly what it says when the message appears? That would be most helpful to get a full understanding of what exactly is happening. In our attempts, the message appears just as it shows in If an app asks to track your activity. If you’re seeing any deviation from that, please provide details on what exactly the message shows and we’ll go from there.

Regards.

I did reinstall the apps. One of the games I was playing essentially made me start all over so I deleted it. The part that makes it confusing is they ask for permission and the only option to click is "continue" which makes me think I'm giving them permission but I'm not. It gives me no choice to say no or to bypass. I have lots of apps installed so I'm sure there are more that will be similar to this. One app already forced me to allow them to track my location in order to use it, and it's the same one I am currently having issues with.

Thanks so much for taking interest in my issue. I tried to included 2 screenshots but it won't allow it.

One app says:

"We are required to request your permission to track some data from this device. We use this information to: Improve your ad personalization experience, Enable Facebook-connected players to visualize their friends' names and profile images. Please note that by not allowing tracking you will not be able to play with your Facebook friends and this will not remove ads from the game; instead you may see ads that are unrelated to your interests."

My only option from there is Next.

The other app says:

"Let us continue tailoring your ads. Please give us permission to share your data to show you relevant ads about McDonald's food you love. We respectfully use your data in accordance with our Privacy Statement."

From there my only option is to Continue.
