My previous iPads made removal of icons easy! For some reason the current one indicates only 2 options: edit Home Screen or Share. What happened to the Delete option and how can I get rid of the ones I’ll never use that I accidentally added?

If none of the apps have a delete option, there may be a restriction set on deleting apps. On an iPhone or iPad, go to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions > iTunes & App Store Purchases > Deleting Apps.
