How to import parts of the iphoto library to different Aperture 3 libraries

I am totally new to aperture 3, one of the reasons i bought it was that apart from the photo adjustments capabilities i wanted a more flexible library function to that in iPhoto.

I have different events/smart folders in my iphoto library and i want to set up Aparture 3 so that the events/smart folders are in now located in different libraries in different places (including external drives) on my system.. How do i do this ?, as the only way i can see to import my iphoto library is to do it in one execution ?

Thanks

John

Easier than you think 😉

File -> Import -> Show iPhoto Browser

You can drag Events over one at a time from iPhoto - this will get all the versions etc.

Note that this will always lead to Managed images in the Aperture Library.

Are you sure that you want multiple Libraries? They're quite inconvenient because you can only have one open at any time, so only one is searchable etc. You can achieve enormous separation between projects just using Projects, Keywords etc. And if you're worried about disk space running a Referenced Library is a cinch in Aperture.

Of course, iPhoto can do multiple Libraries too.
