My Apple glass screen protector (than was installed. by Apple) is cracked. I want to bring phone into store to get it replaced. Best way to go about this?

I need to bring my I phone 10 max in to an Apple store to have the cracked glass screen protector, installed by Apple, replaced with a new glass screen protector.

what is the best way to proceed?

  1. Order a new glass screen protector from Apple and arrange for it to be picked up at my local Apple store?
  2. make an appointment with my local store repair department to go in for the replacement to be installed?
  3. if it is found that the actual screen underneath the protector is damaged, will Apple have the parts and time to take of those repairs at the same time? Or do I need to do something else to make that happen?

any advice would be helpful, as I am a senior in a wheelchair and it is difficult for me to get out to the mall. And even more difficult to be without my phone as I live alone and it is my lifeline for assistance should I get in a difficult situation.

iPhone XS Max, iOS 14

You could make an appointment at a genius bar

https://getsupport.apple.com/ and or https://www.apple.com/retail/geniusbar/

Personally (i am an able bodied senior) I would lift off the protector with a fingernail- it is only stuck on like a post-it note.

Then you can see if the msin screen is cracked.

You can buy a new one from Apple.com but I buy two-for-£5 or $5 glass screen protectors from a well known online suction site.

You clean off the main screen with the included wipes, then place the new protector on in the right position, fix it down one side with scotch tape. Then open it like a book. remove the protective backing sheet, then after another quick screen wipe lower it gently down. The air usually pushes itself out but you can smooth it out.

Worst outcome is you waste £5 or $5
