Switched Apple ID Email Address & Now I Don't Get Notifications

My Apple ID email address was an employer's and now that it is no longer supported, I switched it to a new email address but now I am not getting any texts or any other notifications on my phone.

How do I fix this?

Did you change the existing email on your Apple ID or create a new Apple ID?
