Slow login time

Hello,

since i've upgraded to Big Sur, my iMac is incredibly slow to log-in. It boot a little slower, but this is not an issue, however when i enter the user password it takes between 5 and 10 minutes to get a working desktop! It usually start without a black screen, then show the desktop image and the bar and then after minutes the icon on the desktop start to appear. Until the icons appear i cannot start anything, then performance are ok, a usual.

What can it be? I do not have many application at login, only drop box is shown in the login element, and the desktop is not on iCloud.

Any idea or help? I read about problems with usb devices, i have a logitech trackball, but unplugging it changed anything.

Thanks a lot!

iMac 21.5″, macOS 11.4

Additionally, download and run Etrecheck. Etrecheck is a diagnostic tool that was developed by one of the most respected users here in the ASC and recommended by Apple Support  to provide a snapshot of the system and help identify the more obvious culprits that can adversely affect a Mac's performance.

IMPORTANT:

Before running Etrecheck assign Full Disk Access to Etrecheck in the Etrecheck's Privacy preference pane so that it can get additional information from the Console and log files for the report:

Also click and read the About info to further permit full disk access.

Copy the report

and use the Additional Text button to include the report in your reply.

Then we can examine the report and see if we can determine what might be contributing to the problem.
