No. Keep Security Software off of your Mac. It just gets in the way, such as VPN software not letting it connect to Apple's servers, or background scans overheating your Mac. Read Lots of Examples Here: intext:bitdefender site:discussions.apple.com
Any Third Party Applications that will interfere with the normal operation of the OS, alter, modify, remove or delete or attempt to do so is an invitation for disaster and may require a Reinstallation of the OS.
There are no known Viruses in the wild that self replicate and affect macOS. There are Malware and Adware that does affect macOS and are often times downloaded as part of an Application from Third Party UnTrusted Site and get installed along with the Application.

No, I don't use an Antivirus software on my Mac because security is already integrated in the system. No need to waste money on AV subscriptions and loosing control on how your Mac behaves, not to mention the space it takes up and resources it use.
No. All it's going to do is eat up resources and slow things down.
And caution on it's uninstaller, it left many straggling files on mine when I tested it.
