Cannot save Screenshot

Using Catalina, v10.15.7 When I take a screenshot (command-shift-4) I get a popup that says:

:Your screenshot can’t be saved. Cannot write file to intended destination.


Mac OS Catalina v 10.15.7 (19H1217)

"MacBook Pro13-inch Mid 2012)

 Model Identifier: MacBookPro9,2

 Processor Name: Dual-Core Intel Core i5

 Processor Speed: 2.5 GHz

 Number of Processors: 1

You may try and see if Safe mode can help on startup; takes awhile.

Then restart without shift-key held, to return to normal use.

Another thing to try, may be SMC reset. Instructions vary due to a

wider field of intel-based Macs it caters to. (M1 hasn't a need.)

Further, you may need to consider start up into macOS Recovery;

maybe use to run disk utility; or perhaps reinstall the macOS?

Uninstall all third party apps that are Cleaners/Optimizers/Anti-Virus/VPN
