Is AirPods Max supposed to work as microphone when connected to iPhone 11 Pro? Many people say they cannot hear me, while others say I sound fine...??

Yes, AirPods Max has a microphone. If it is working intermittently, please Get Support.

User error... I had only been using it for listening until that day. I like the controls over my left ear, and had not bothered to discover the proper left/right ear.
Once I realized I had it on "backwards" and moved it so that the controls are over the right ear, the others can hear me.
Guess I need to keep the controls there... or grow a mouth in the back of my head... :)
