iphone X has shown restore screen multiple times

My daughter’s iPhone X has had the restore iPhone screen pop up several times today. We have plugged it into the computer and after restoring it begins to work properly again. She is not doing anything in particular when it happens; and there hasn’t been any recent damage to the phone.

Any idea on why this is happening, and what can be done?

Welcome to Apple Support Communities.

The following action puts the iPhone in Restore mode on iPhone 8 and later: "Press and quickly release the Volume Up button. Press and quickly release the Volume Down button. Press and hold the Side button until you see the Apple logo." Perhaps that combination of buttons continues to be pressed?

If issues continue, contact Apple: Get Support.
