How to delete the mail app

I'm not too fond of the mail app. I think it's hot garbage, and I find it extremely annoying how every "contact" form opens it by default. I've been trying everything in my power to delete this dreadful program but nothing seems to work.

I've disabled system integrity protection and tried to sudo -rm the app but it doesn't work?!? Also, dragging it to the trash bin doesn't seem to do anything.

Any advice on how I can get rid of it?

You cannot delete the app. It is integrated into the macOS.

About the best you can do is remove the app from the dock so you don't have to see it. CLick the app icon in the dock and drag it up and out. Momentarily the word Remove will appear and when it does just release the icon.

I don't use the mail app.... hence why I am trying to delete it from my computer.

The Apple Mail.app is baked into the macOS—you can not and have never been able to remove a baked in app.

I don't use Safari but I can't delete it from my computer. I don't use ... but I can't delete it from my computer. These apps are integrated into the operating system. Just install another email client and use that. Next time you design an operating system make sure you don't integrate any apps so that users will have to install the apps if they want to use them.
