Apple Pencil automatically double-taps in split screen mode

I’ve noticed a bug when using Apple Pencil 2 in split screen mode

After double tapping to erase something then double tapping again to return to a pen-like tool, the Pencil 2 will automatically double tap back to the eraser between 5-10 seconds afterwards. Will even occur when Pencil 2 is placed stationary on table, so it’s definitely not an accidental user input. Double tapping again returns the tools back to the pen-like tool. It happens in multiple combinations of apps, and seems to be only during split-screen mode

Using iPad Pro 11” 3rd Generation, iPadOs 14.6

Anyone else experiencing similar problems?

Thanks for stopping by the Apple Support Communities to get help with your Apple Pencil. It sounds like it is automatically switching back to a previously-select input setting while using the iPad in Split View, even when you aren't actually using the Pencil. We're happy to help!

First, if you have not already, try restarting the iPad and testing again: Restart your iPad - Apple Support.

If the issue persists after that, go into Settings > Accessibility > Apple Pencil and adjust the response speeds. Then, try toggling the Double Tap function off and back on.

Should you still have issues with the double tap input selection, try unpairing the Apple Pencil and setting it up again: Connect Apple Pencil with your iPad - Apple Support.

It happens WHILE using the pencil, that’s why it’s a problem! Imagine using the pencil, double tapping periodically between brush pen and eraser and every minute or two, the eraser automatically is chosen and erasing your work!

I find this kind of answer a little insulting. “Have you tried turning it off and on again?” Yes, I have, and the problem persists

Do you have any other suggestions?
