iTunes Media Folder location keeps resetting, on PC.

I am using iTunes v12.11.3.17 on my PC. I keep changing my iTunes Media Folder location and it works fine. But when restarting iTunes it keeps sticking /iTunes Media on the end of my path that I set. There for when I download songs it places them in /iTunes Media/Music/. I don't want that. Any way around that?

I've tried the hold Shift and restart, and choose a new library (also create new library). Just keeps doing the same thing after restart. Adding /iTunes Media to the end of the path that I set.

Is this intended behavior? Any work around?

I just want my music in my Music folder /Artist/Album/SongFile.m4p (.m4a). Not Music/iTunes Media/Music/Artist/Album/SongFile.m4a. Without needing to reset the location every time I start to buy music.

Thanks for any help.

This does not answer the problem in the question above, I know because I am having the same exact problem. I follow the steps to change my "iTunes Media folder location" and it changes without any problem. But, when I close the iTunes app the settings do not save for some reason. No matter how many times I change the iTunes Media folder location it always reverts back to the default location every time I reopen the iTunes app.

Thanks Eric-F.

Unfortunately it doesn't solve the issue. These are the steps I'm following, but every time I restart iTunes and look at the folder location it keeps adding /iTunes Media to the end of the path that I set. So then it starts saving new songs into the /iTunes Media/Music folder. Not directly in the folder I chose.

Guess my only option is to change it every time I restart and get new music.

As usual, Apple are not giving a straight answer to a problem with their software. This is unacceptable customer service. The iTunes Media folder can not be relocated to another location under preference, as each relaunch, the folder location defaults back to the User folder on the main drive, being C drive. Provide a fix or you'll find users will be requesting refunds on their purchases as the iTunes software does not operate as described.

I can only assume this issue affects relatively few people and isn't easy to reproduce. My hunch would be that some obscure permissions issue is present. Try running iTunes as the administrator from the right-click context menu and/or try holding down ctrl+shift as you launch iTunes to open it in safe mode. I recall one user mentioned that they temporarily installed an older build (12.9?) created a new library and set their media folder up, then reinstalled the current build and reconnected to their active library which retained the media folder. Or you can follow my advice earlier in the thread and put your library in the portable shape which isn't troubled by this bug.
