If your iPad model does not have a 3.5mm Headphone jack, you can use an appropriate adapter that includes a suitable DAC (Digital to Analogue) converter.

If your iPad Air has a Lightning connector, you might use an Apple Lightning to 3.5mm Headphone Jack Adapter:

Alternatively, if you have an iPad Air4 or 2018/2020/2021 model of iPad Pro, with a USB-C connector, you might consider an Apple USB-C to 3.5mm Headphone Jack Adapter:

Other third-party adapters also exist - in particular for USB-C, where many USB hubs incorporate a DAC and 3.5mm jack.
