You can add a widget only to the Today View area, not in the home page.

do you know what’s the reason behind Apple promoting widget use on the Home Screen if IPad users are unable to take advantage of this feature?
thank you for that. I feel at ease knowing that the feature will be added! I think that’s a great feature that’ll make the iPad experience way more worth it.
