Looking for a free screen mirroring-to-Chromecast app for iPhone SE

I have a Samsung J7 phone which, using the Google Home app, will mirror the phone screen and audio to Chromecast. Now I have an iPhone SE and expected the Google Home app for Apple to do the same. It doesn't. It casts certain streaming providers, e.g. Netflix and Amazon Prime, but not the screen in general and not YouTube. An app called Chromecast TV Streamer will cast the screen (anything on the screen) but not audio unless an upgrade is purchased. I looked at other apps and they all charge a fee to do what Android and the Google Home app accomplish as is. Am I right? Did the designers for the Google Home app for Apple omit the screen-mirroring feature which is in the app for Android? And if so, why? I would appreciate hearing from someone on whether I have missed something or why is it like that.

It appears that you have done your research on this subject quite extensively. You are right on all counts. The thing is that the app developer for Google Home app is Google and it is up to the developer to include features such as screen mirroring. For example, Netflix and Amazon Prime allows screen mirroring using Chromecast while YouTube allows both AirPlay and Chromecast.

Yes, it is frustrating when there is no standardized method and one App uses one method while the other uses something different. You are also right about apps that bridge the gap, in this area, however they are not free to function at full capacity.

Unfortunately, such is the nature of the status of this business at present.
