Iphone Xr cannot open sent pictures to my text.

New problem on iPhone Xr. I cannot see the pictures sent to my text, when I click on the icon, receive Downloading but does not open. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Your profile indicates that you are using iOS version 13. I recommend that you ➔ update your iPhone to iOS version 14.x.


Try and Force Restart your iPhone EXACTLY as shown below and see whether that resolves the issue:

  • Press and quickly release Volume UP button
  • Press and quickly release Volume DOWN button
  • Press and Hold the SIDE button until an Apple logo appears and then release the Side button (Can take up to 20 seconds. (DO NOT release Side Button when invited to Slide Power OFF). 


If the above does not resolve the issue, then open Settings ➔ Messages ➔ MMS Messaging : Ensure that this is set to ON.


Check to see whether you have free storage space on your iPhone. Open Settings ➔ General ➔ iPhone Storage: Here you will see the available storage space. If you have very little space left then you may experience the issue that you are describing.


If all of the above appears to be in check then contact your carrier to ensure that the MMS function is working as expected on your account with them.
