About this Mac: Year of Manufacture or year of model

I write this in July 2021 and I just bought a 16" MacBook Pro from a retail store. The installed OS version was Mac Catalina. The 'About This Mac' description shows the year as 2019.

Additionally, if I run the serial number through support coverage, it gives a message that "we are unable to find your coverage information" at this time.

Has the retail store sold me some real old stock at current prices or does the year 2019 indicate the year of the original design/release of the MacBook 16" Pro?

Thanks in advance for reading and replying to this question. Kind regards, Sebastian

The noted date simply indicates the initial release date of that particular model. As there has only been one version of the 16” MacBook Pro, it would be current.
