I notice that the desktop is listed under icloud; I used to have desktop that was just on the desktop.

Is the desktop no longer independent of icloud?

Hello, Gjmh.

The desktop on your Mac can be independent of iCloud, but the purpose of iCloud Drive is to make your desktop files accessible to you wherever you go and whatever device you use. You can turn off iCloud drive if you wish.
