headset connect to lightning adapter, (non genuine Apple) to iPhone 12, EQ settings bass boost ON, no bass at all, just mid and high. Any other settings as Pop, Rock etc. the same, no bass.
The same headphones connect to my old model 6s - great low frequencies.

A lot of non-Apple Lightning-to-3.5mm adapters on the market tend to create staticky or undesirable audio. If you would like to buy an official Apple adapter, you can do so here.

You can as well use Bluetooth earbuds or lightning cord headphones if you want to save the trouble of an adapter, but if you want to use an adapter, your best bet is Apple's.
