Xcode and swift playground

I am interested in learning swift coding but my iOS is only 12.5.4 so and the iOS needed is iOS 13+ so I can’t get the apps I need I have swift unwrap and it refers to Xcode playground I am a complete beginner but keen to learn. Is there a way around this please.?? My software is up to date so I can’t update to iOS 13+ thanks Donna
