How do I know if a pop up is really about malware or a attempt downloads phishing

How do I know if a pop up on Safari is a message from apple about malware or if it’s fake? It had a time limit on it to down load software. I did not do it!

All such popup messages are scams presented by criminals.

Do not interact with the message or the sender.
