how to unlock iphone, forgot passcode

i have a iphone 11 that i need to mail in and a passcode has been put on the phone, how do i unlock it so i can reset it

Because the passcode is stored only on the phone it cannot be retrieved, and I'm afraid the only way forward is to erase the phone. Please see If you forgot the passcode on your iPhone, or your iPhone is disabled - Apple Support
