Small keyboard by default? Why?

I bought a 27" iMac and I was surprised to find out that I got the small num-pad-less keyboard because I didn't realize that I had to choose and pay extra for a full keyboard. I am wondering, why would someone who bought a huge desktop computer want a keyboard without a num-pad by default? Am I the outlier here? Do most people prefer a keyboard without a num-pad?

There is a delay in the delivery of iMacs so I can't return it and stay without a computer for 2 weeks waiting for the one with a full keyboard, and I also don't want to pay $150 for a new keyboard.

I'm just venting, I know this is not really a problem but it's frustrating.

Probably doesn’t help ease your frustration but the last Apple input devices that I used were the full size USB keyboard and Mighty Mouse that came with a 2006 iMac. Ever-since those started looking crusty and/or passed away, I’ve used nothing but inexpensive and trust worthy Logitech keyboards and mice.

Yea' we replaced one really really old working Logitech keyboard, because the lettering was faded. Although, I suspect that the user used nail polish remover (Acetone) to try and clean it.
