Are you referring to an external drive? If so, they do not need "drivers". All they need is to be formatted properly which can be done in Disk Utility - depends if you just want to use them with Mac OS or also Windows.

External drives work best with Macs without any (mostly useless) software installed. You can encrypt the drive without needing any software. And, if this is to be your Time Machine disk, you don't want anything on there that may be erased by Time Machine.

So, my recommendation is not to install their software, but it is your decision.

Yes this is an external solids state drive. That's exactly what I need. I tried to locate the proper drives for it on samsung's website but to no avail, when I click the app (SamsungPortableSSD_1.0), it opens but says " No Samsung SSD is connected." However, it is connected and even my computer recognizes it, as it is displayed on my desktop.

i assumed the drive was empty. if it is, choosing erase will allow you to format the drive APFS, which will only work on macs. if there is any data on the disk, then yes it would be erased. if that's the case, you would need to move the data to a different location before re-formatting, or leave it formatted ExFAT to save the data. and if you need to share it between a mac and a windows machine, you can leave it as ExFAT.
