Iphone 12 Mini overheating when plugged into Car Play

I have seen this posted somewhere before. Phone is overheating when plugged into car play sometimes randomly and for a short period of time. Phone was cool beforehand with almost no use. No damage to the phone liquid or otherwise. Note I do use a Otterbox case that covers the back of phone...is anyone finding this to be an issue?? Appreciate feedback
