This Belkin adapter is limited to CD quality, aka, 16-bit @ 44.1 kHz ... so, I wouldn't say they are "better." AFAIK, no one has done a thorough testing for comparison to the Express base stations.

No better and no worse in my opinion. Remember that the specifications for AirPlay are what they are.
Belkin provides no real WiFi Specifications for the Sound Connect device. Check for other Specifications in this Belkin document:
My opinion......$99 is a lot to spend on a simple adapter that does less than an AirPort Express. I would look at Ebay for used Expresses at $40-50 each if I needed more AirPlay devices.
Thanks. The other question is might the WiFi transmission rate on the Belkin device be faster, since it's newer? I currently have my two Airport Express devices connected via an Ethernet cable to an Orbi satelite.
