My Safari google search is hijacked by Yahoo. Tried several online suggestions but no luck yet.

1. Remove adware/malware if installed on your Mac..
Run the latest release of Malwarebytes for Mac to remove malware/adware, if installed on your Mac.
For instructions: Install Malwarebytes for Mac v4 Uninstall Malwarebytes for Mac
Click the “FREE DOWNLOAD” button.
Click the “Scan ” button. Once done, quit Malwarebytes for Mac.
Restart the computer and relaunch Safari holding the shift key down.
Scan for Malware again.
Additional steps if necessary.

3. Reset Homepage. https://support.apple.com/guide/safari/set-your-homepage-ibrw1020/mac
4. Remove unknown extensions: Safari > Preferences > Extensions

Click “Free download” button,
Open Downloads folder, click on it to open, and then select ”Open”.
“Choose a problem” from the popup menu box, and then “Start EtreCheck” in the dialog.
Click “Share Report” button in the toolbar, select “Copy report” .
Paste the report when you reply.

What does that mean? You go to Google and the results are displayed in Yahoo? Or, when you type a search phrase into the address bar the results are directed through Yahoo?
Ok, looked online. It could be some malware. There seem to be a variety of online solutions. You could also try something like CCleaner or Malwarebytes to detect any malware on your device.
I am worried that downloading the free malware search software due to more problems with infections. I tried your second and third solution and those did not work. I can't understand the 4th solution you suggested.
This is happening as I type a search phrase into the address bar when using goole search and the results are directed through Yahoo?
