how do i transfer text messages from one phone to another

If they are both iPhones and both on your same Apple ID then try setting both to

Settings, Your name, iCloud, Messages, On.

It should sync Messages between them.

Remember text messages are 20th century technology and subject to disappearing in a puff of smoke.
