My phone keeps glitching, is there anything I can do about it?

I use to have a problem where sometimes I'd push the home key to start up my phone from sleep then the lock would stick, and by that I mean I couldn't unlock it - so I'd have to put it on sleep again then do the same thing, it would usually fix it and it only would happen a relatively small amount. Also, sometimes I couldn't use the keyboard while texting, its like the screen would freeze and none of the keys would work. Those problems just kind of faded away, would sometimes disappear after a phone restart. Lately, these problems are becoming more prevalent, and a phone restart isn't helping. Whats the problem? Anything I can do? These glitches are annoying, and make it quite hard to use my phone at times.
