Face ID

If you have an Apple Watch running WatchOS 7.4 or later and your iPhone is running IOS 14.5 or later, there is a new feature were Face ID can detect that you are waring a face mask then a notification on you Apple Watch will appear asking if you want to unlock your iPhone. To turn this on go to Settings on your iPhone then Face ID a passcode then scroll down to "Unlock with Apple Watch"

Jastin888,

We see you have concerns about using Face ID with a mask, as it relates to Apple Pay. We can help to provide some info on that.

If you do happen to have an Apple Watch, you may opt to use this for Apple Pay, as an alternative to using your iPhone: Make purchases with Apple Watch

Otherwise, it'll be expected that making purchases on the iPhone with Apple Pay requires Face ID to see your face for authentication. You may use your passcode in instances where you need to keep a mask on, as you've noted.

If you wish to provide feedback, the best place to do so would be on the dedicated feedback page here: Product Feedback

Cheers.

Due to sanitary measures to combat coronavirus infection, it is necessary to wear masks in supermarkets that cover the nose and lips, in this regard Face ID does not recognize the face when paying at the checkout, please refine this function, as you either have to remove the mask, which is accordingly impossible to do or enter the code manually, which is very slow and incon.
