If the reset sequence described in the article does not clear this, then the device likely has a hardware problem or has a corruption of some sort.

As for the frequent updates? The choices we have there are those updates, or contending the messes that the updates fix. And outside of the occasional hardware failure, the biggest cause of problems I’ve seen posted around here is a device near or at its storage capacity. Managing a storage-too-low-for-current-requirements device is an ongoing effort and sometimes a hassle.
