How to choose payment method at point of purchase

How do I choose to use a secondary card at the point of purchase or for a recurring subscription?

Currently when making a purchase in an app, if you want to use a secondary payment method, you have to exit the app, go to settings, navigate to payment and shipping, re-order the queue, go back to the app, make the purchase, leave the app, go back to settings, revert the queu.

If you want to use a secondary card for a subscription, I guess you have to do this every month the morning of the payment date?

This is a joke. What other platform doesn't let you choose/confirm your payment method for individual purchases?

What's the intended purpose of even saving multiple payment methods in the settings if you (practically speaking) can only use one. Does apple expect my cards to be declined on a regular basis?

I completely agree with the poster's thread.

I can

  • choose payment method at a retail store
  • choose payment method using Apply Pay online
  • choose payment method when filling out a form with Safari

Why why why why why can't I select a payment method when purchasing an app or subscription from the App Store?

Yes, this is a joke that I can't do this.

I share my Apple Card with my wife/family, and I should be able to decide if I'm making an individual purchase or a family purchase without having go to through the hassle that the original poster writes.

I will be submitting my feedback through this user voice portal. However, this is a problem that should never have existed. It almost seems that Apple wrote special code for checking out in the App Store that doesn't allow selecting a payment method, possibly as something a little less than honest to prefer the Apple Card as a payment method? Doesn't seem right to me...

Currently there is no way to select a payment method during purchase in the iTunes Store, nor to assign specific payment methods to subscriptions. Both things default to primary payment method on the account.

You can submit the suggestion to Apple at: link-> Feedback - iTunes - Apple

They claim to read every suggestion and feedback sent their way through there, though they may not respond.
