Saving Audio File from MMS Message

I have an iPhone 4 on latest software version. I received an audio file (mp3) and want to save it to my ringtones. How is this done?

A sound or audio file must be in an iPhone ringtone format to be used as a ringtone on your iPhone. There are a number of 3rd party utilities or apps that provide for this, or this can be done manually with iTunes. After the sound or audio file has been converted, it will appear in Ringtones under Library in the iTunes source list and under the Ringtones tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes. Select Sync Ringtones and select the ringtone under the Ringtones tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes followed by a sync.

This can't be done by simply saving a sound or audio file with a received MMS.
