I want to physical dual nano SIM cards with my phone, not one physical and one eSIM. My primary provider is AT&T. The secondary provider will be GCI. Can I do this with the iPhone 12 and do I just purchase a dual SIM card tray? Has anyone done this and how well does it work? Thanks!!

Only iPhones meant for sale in China, Hong Kong and Macau support dual physical sims. The sim tray is not what determines dual sim support, its the actual hardware within the device.
There is no magic way to get dual physical sims on iPhones sold in the U.S.
And nobody here would help you out with an unsupported mod to a device that can and will probably void your warranty.
This is a user-to-user technical support site operated by Apple. If anyone has done this as a kludge they probably aren't going to post here. You will need to look elsewhere.
