How is the Passport WD formatted? Control (right) - click on the Passport's icon on the Desktop and select Get Info from the contextual menu.

If it's a rotational HD it should be formatted OS X Extended (journaled). If an SSD then it should be formatted APFS.

You can reformat the drive using Disk Utility to whatever format is appropriate for the type of drive it is.

NOTE: erasing and reformatting will erase any files currently on the drive.
