M1 compatiblity?

If I buy an M1 device, can I still use my old applications and older hardware, old MBP and Mac mini and old hard disks without reformatting?

Yes, you do not need to do anything with your older Mac. You can still exchange files etc between the machines except the older apps that are 32 bit will not work with Big Sur. Most external hardware will still work but there may be some exceptions if any is OS dependent.
